Member of ZA probably since 1928. Compulsory military service 1932, 1933 pilot training in VLU in Prostějov, further pilot courses and military service to
1939 as a Sergeant Aircrew longer serving, field pilot, instructor in training squadron of Air regiment 1 TGM on at that time the most modern CS air-fighters B-534. Escape from enemy-occupied homeland via Poland to France, Foreign Legion, accepted to Armeé de I'Air, retraining to French Morane-Saulnier MS-406, combat employment 17.5.1940 - 21.6.1940 in GC 11/2 as a Flight Sergeant. From fallen France he flew over to Algeria, by boat via Gibraltar to England. RAF, prompt training to Spitfires, sent to British 19th squadron. As one of few Czechoslovak pilots he took place in the entire Battle of Britain, after 122 operation hours he was shot down by an air-fighter of Luftwaffe over the English Channel. As a rank Czechoslovak Pilot Officer he was promoted to a british Flying Officer in 1947 and in 1991 to a Group Captain in memoriam. F. Frajtl entitled a chapter in his book Vzpomínka na padlé kamarády (Remembrance of Fallen Friends) about S. Plzák - Souboje statečného Plzeňáka (Combats of Brave Pilsner).

The first victory gained 5.9 Cockpit Spitfire Mk.I K9851 QV-I Spitfire eleven when his unit in space Hornchurch competed with a group of bombers to 17Z that protected the fighter Bf 109E.
